    Even houses an hour away from the city now cost over 500k. Even condos are close to that price, which makes no sense. Its making it impossible to buy an house as an first time buyer.

    Creadit card companies make there money not by the two percent of people that can pay off there creatit cards every month. But on the 98 percent of people. That means you. Yes you. That max the card out and pay the minimum payment a month that doesn't even cover the intreast of 30 percent making there bill go up rather then down

    Honestly, I don't mind paying taxes, but it's a two-way street. Okay, increase the taxes that corporations and wealthy individual have to pay, but also control government spending to make sure the money is going to places where it matters most. I better not see any potholes, or any children at school going hungry, or people struggling in college. As long as those needs are met, I'm okay with paying taxes

    Just a reality check. Mortgage rates are no where near record highs. Take a look at rates back in the 80s. Since 2001 rates have been at record lows until the last year and a half when they finally went back to normal. Maintenance is easy, just do it yourself. I am thinking of moving which will mean selling my house. I am not at all concerned about mortgage rates. I will just pay cash for my next hose. I am also retired, so I don't care about jobs or anything like that. All I need is to have a nice ocean view and reasonable proximity to health care. Oh, I also don't want to be able to hear or see the neighbors.

    @GrahamStephen this is somewhat infuriating in the design on how you approach these taxes. First, you have ONLY focused on the taxes, and NOTHING on what the goals of these taxes are. Taxing and doing nothing is DUMB, but the way you presented them it seems like that is what is happening. Unrealized gains? Correct the concept is ridiculous. Should the DESIGN of how rich people take loans against their assets, then write off the interest be allowed? My argument is that the THOUGHT of tax is good, but the METHOD of tax is bad. Loans taken out against appreciating assets should be taxed at a higher rate, and not be able to have tax write offs for interest. Next one, housing is a wealth vehicle. You failed to actually show HOW rich people avoid taxes on properties. When you die, your COST BASIS is reset when passing it down. That is essentially cheating taxes to keep building a tax free property as long as you die with it. We should keep the 1031 exchange, but completely remove the cost basis reset on death, and tax the asset at death. It’s easy to attack taxes when you only focus on “oh my god taxes are going up for everyone” without actually realizing the gains (get it?) for the people those taxes are going to benefit. We should also look at how much corporate taxes have GONE DOWN since the 1920’s, and correlate that with cost of living? Maybe statistics from both sides would actually show a true well designed tax system Must be fun to spread misinformation.

    Sad sad. We have "mobile " homes. 10 years and they are hardly livable. $50,000 is a LOT of money for something disposable as a "mobile" or "box" home.

    Older millennial here! Got divorced in 2020 and moved to an apartment for a year to take my time looking for a home. Housing prices doubled, inventory plummeted, and interest rates skyrocketed. I was almost priced completely out of the market. I think you touched on nearly every one of my regrets. My plan is to just stay put for a good amount of time and course correct when it makes sense.

    I completely disagree with the credit score thing. I would say that if and only IF you can save at least 10k before having a credit card and living on your own then get a credit card. Otherwise it takes longer to learn the value of money and majority of people end up having a monthly balance. Hence why credit card companies are so rich.

      You can still get a mortgage without credit. Just a little harder and you’ll have a high interest rate. But if that’s the only debt you ever accrue then why does the interest rate matter?

    I think the strategy that you were talking about near the end of the video is what spurred this proposal, not necessarily government spending. How can a person claim they can’t pay taxes on “unrealized gains” when they leverage their stocks quite frequently to take out a loan, receive dividends, and even buy Twitter in Elon’s case? It is this bombastic “rich getting richer” for doing little to no work mentality that manifested in a bill like this. May I further point out that in the past, there was a fourth option to spend a company’s revenue on: workers’ wages. An investment on labor would be more beneficial to an economy overall, yet because it does not benefit investors directly, became essentially illegal. Labor is valued insignificantly in comparison to capital in our society, rightfully angering many 😔

    Not all housing markets are the same but in my area you'd have to replace just about everything in the house for renting to be cheaper, even when talking about only living in it for five years. Rents are frequently at least double the cost of a mortgage. Hell someone near me just built a duplex and put the units up for rent. The listed price per unit is probably almost double the cost of the mortgage for the entire duplex.
